Call for Submissions for the 2024 Joint Developed Project (JDP)

In order to add value to the excellent research results of the academia and nurture medium-to-high level research talent with a Master’s or Doctoral degree to maintain Taiwan’s competitive advantage in the high-tech industry, this project is implemented by the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute, National Applied Research Laboratories (hereinafter referred to as the TSRI) to assist domestic professors in the joint development of advanced nanodevice technologies.

Beginning today, submissions will be accepted. Please email your project pre-proposal to the project contact by December 22, 2023 (Friday). Late submissions will not be accepted.

Notice on Application and Pre-Proposal Preparation:
- Application eligibility: Professor research groups in public and private universities and colleges; teaching and research personnel serving in dedicated roles domestically or internationally, within five years or up to five years after obtaining a doctoral degree, may apply for this project in a rolling submission manner.
- Project duration: The project will be reviewed annually, and the duration is one year (2024/1/1-2024/12/31)
- Support: TSRI equipment usage fee grants, a quote of two students entitled to the following courses free of charge: Semiconductor Process Training Course (SM01) and Semiconductor Process Equipment Training Workshop (SM01-1)
- Application materials: Project pre-proposal (at most two pages of A4, with horizontal writing from top to bottom and a font size of 14pt)

Basis for the approval of equipment usage fee grants:
- Project pre-proposal: The TSRI’s equipment supportability (20%)
- Groups’ reporting on the TSRI’s Performance Reporting System in the last three years: Number of members who completed Master’s/Doctoral degree dissertations (40%), number of papers published and patents obtained (40%)
- Groups making a submission for the first time will be given a grant of NTD 500,000 for equipment use; groups who are not making a submission for the first time and have not reported any performance outcome on the TSRI’s system over the last three years will be given a basic grant of NTD 100,000.

IV. If the given grant for equipment use is used up within each project year, an additional grant may be applied for by email. However, the additional grant is limited to 10% of the original grant for the project.

Project Obligations
- Research achievements, including paper publication, talent development, patent technology transfer, and other awards, must be recorded online through the designated reporting system provided by the TSRI.
- Acknowledgment of the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute is required for papers.
- All intellectual property (patents and technology transfer) jointly developed shall be processed in accordance with the regulations of National Science and Technology Council and National Applied Research Laboratories.
